ABOUT PPAS SCHOLARSHIP

In keeping with our mission to encourage and financially support the artistic endeavors of young people, the Pinellas Park Art Society is pleased to award a Monetary Scholarship each fall to a deserving student who either intends to be, or is currently enrolled in a school of higher learning to pursue the study of visual arts.

This scholarship program is open to all Pinellas County students attending public or private schools, and to home-schooled students.  The scholarship is based on artistic abilities and fulfillment of the application requirements.  Students demonstrating financial need may be given preference.

In addition, the winning student will receive a one-year Pinellas Park Art Society membership, with the ability to network with our artists, receive information about upcoming exhibitions and workshops, and participate in the Society activities. 

To be eligible for this award, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Be enrolled as a senior in a Pinellas County high school - public, private, or home-schooled, for the current academic year, with plans to attend an accredited community college, university, or other school of higher learning, to further their education in a visual arts program, or be a resident of Pinellas County and currently enrolled in a college-level visual arts program.

RE: Scholarship 

​Submit a statement, 500 words or less, about your career goals, including a description of college plans, intended major, and any additional information you feel would be helpful, such as art experience, community service, work experience, and extracurricular activities.

Include a portfolio of photographed letter-size copies of five pieces of your ORIGINAL FINE ARTS work, and note on each copy you name, the title, medium and size of the original piece. Photography and digital art are excluded.

Prior to actual award of the scholarship, the recipient must provide:

  • Proof of acceptance by a school of higher learning.

  • The name, title, and mailing address of the financial officer at the school you will attend, or are attending.

  • Your college student ID number.

  • A wallet-size photo of yourself for publicity purposes.

The Pinellas Park Art Society Scholarship Committee will notify the winner by April 15th.  The scholarship will be awarded at a special meeting of the Pinellas Park Art Society. Winner must attend in order to receive the award, and must be prepared to bring several pieces of original artwork for exhibit at the meeting.

Scholarship funds will be deposited directly into the student’s college account and are designated for use only toward tuition, fees, books and supplies.
